NAC’s helicopter maintenance facility at Rand Airport undertakes complete factory authorised maintenance and overhaul services for Bell and Robinson helicopters positioning NAC to provide a full range of world class overhaul, repair and maintenance services.
National Airways Corporation (NAC) Rand airport facility is the only Bell Customer Service Facility (CSF) in Sub Saharan Africa and the only Rolls Royce Model 250 engine Authorised Maintenance Centre in Africa.

Recently renamed, The Coves Flying Carnival 2019 took place on Saturday, 6 April at The Coves Lifestyle Estate on the picturesque western shores of Hartbeesport Dam. With a private landing strip and a number of hangars, The Coves is one of just a handful of estates in South Africa where residents can land almost in their own backyards. In fact, the really fortunate few with stands adjacent to the runway can taxi directly to their properties and park their aircraft in their own private hangars.
The community event, which started in 2011 as The Coves Fly-In, has evolved and grown over the years, prompting the organisers to rename it to reflect the wide variety of attractions on offer. Besides a dazzling array of aircraft, this year’s event also included motor vehicles displays, arts and crafts pop-up stores, a parachute landing competition, and an after-party at the estate’s clubhouse.
The event, which is only open to residents of the estate and their guests, went off without a hitch despite the adverse weather that plagued much of the country the day before the event. Fortunately, conditions improved on the day, with the clouds parting enough to provide a bright blue backdrop for the aircraft, parachutists, hot air balloons, and displays by some of the best aerobatics teams South Africa has to offer.
Never one to miss out on an aviation-related event, NAC was on hand with its Aircraft & Helicopter Sales team, who were on standby to answer questions from fellow aviation enthusiasts. NAC attendees included Martin Banner, JP Fourie, Gary Phillips, Agnes Phillips, Deneys Potgieter, Deon Wentzel, Janco Loubser, and Rikus Rautenbach, who were all thrilled to be part of this very special, and very well organised, event.
